President's Message

Greetings CEA Members!

I hope you are all safe and well. We all have many questions about how we will continue to serve all our students for the rest of the current school year. We have an MOU (Memorandum Of Understanding) with the District but now that the governor has closed schools for the rest of the year and we have begun distance teaching/learning, we will be meeting with the district to update the MOU. Your building reps emailed you about any  questions or concerns you have and we compiled a list to take to the district.

Our first concern is for the health and safety of our members and their families as well as our students. Should you or a family member be diagnosed with COVID19, please let us know if we, your CEA family, can help in any way.

Many of our students' families are feeling overwhelmed during this unprecedented situation. CEA is working on ideas to help families. WEA Chinook has donated a total of $6000 dollars to local area food banks and has donated $500 dollars to CEA to help students. (WEA Chinook also challenged the Freedom Foundation to match our donation......no response!

However, the Freedom Foundation is actively working against our union during this crisis. You may receive a phone call from the FF or one of their subsidiaries offering to help you save money during these difficult times. Of course they want you to opt out of your union. If you receive one of these calls, please let us know.

Our April CEA General Membership Meeting will be held on April 15 at 3:45 through Zoom. All members should receive an email with the link to connect. We will be discussing the MOU, ideas to help students and any other issues members have. Please join us.

Have a very Happy Easter Sunday and I hope to see you at our meeting on April 15th.

Stay safe and well!

CEA Strong!
